CLOSER by Patrick Marber
Patrick Marber’s award winning play, Closer, explores the complicated and deceitful relationships of two couples as their stories and lives become intertwined. The characters pointedly play with their own sexuality and desire for lust as they trade partners and toy with one another’s affections. Captivated by the game of love, seduced by seduction itself, the couples delight in their ‘honest’ relationships which, in reality, are built on lies. Their true desires are unravelled as the four characters move in and out of each other’s beds.
Explicit and abrasive, Closer honestly and openly explores how these lovers devour sex and romance in out of their relationships.
In 2004 the play was adapted into the award winning film of the same name starring Natalie Portman, Julia Roberts, Jude Law and Clive Owen.
Starring: Brendan Snow, Julia Richardson, Tony Rive and Chloe Lauverjon.
