ROPE BURN by Ava Karuso
Two best mates. One gets cancer. Hilarity ensues.
Milkbar Theatre and Darwin Theatre Company present, Rope Burn by Ava Karuso. A new Australian play about friendship, life and death which is both tender and hilariously naughty.
Michael and Ben are best mates. They play video games, drink beer and share a morbid sense of humour. When one of them is diagnosed with cancer, they are thrust into a reality that neither of them were ready for.
Told with blunt humour, Rope Burn explores the expectations of masculinity and shows how two young men are forced to shift their attitudes and open their eyes. Cancer sees them questioning themselves, their friendship and life itself. This devious black comedy will have you laughing the whole way through as the pair struggle to come to terms with the imminent possibility of death.
