The next round of In Residence EOI's will open in 2024.
Introducing the Brown’s Mart In Residence Program, offering two paid residencies for NT performing artists to spend time at Brown’s Mart for up to four weeks between August and December – to focus on their art.
What is it?
You and your practice, for free, at Brown’s Mart. We pay you a wage and you come in and focus on your art. The dream, right?
What do you get?
- Artists fees of $1000/week + on costs for one artist for up to four weeks.
- Free access to most Brown’s Mart spaces subject to availability.
- Informal one-on-ones with the Brown’s Mart Artistic Associates, or the CEO, throughout your Residency
Kids are welcome to accompany you during your time at Brown’s Mart, just let us know a bit about this in your application.
Applications for 2023 closed in July. Applications will re-open in 2024.
The Details
As an In Residence artist at Brown’s Mart, you will be able to spend up to four paid weeks here to focus on your work. These could be between 9am-5pm, or out of office hours.
Brown’s Mart spaces available during your residency include the offices, rehearsal room, courtyard, and the Studio. We would encourage you to think flexibly about what spaces you might require as part of your In Residence Program, as many areas of the venue are often being used by others at certain times.
During your residency there should be at least 1 public outcome. This could be a work in progress showing, workshops, a community party – the choice is yours. This outcome also does not need to be tied to the work completed during your In Residence Program.
This program is open to any form of performing arts practice including music, theatre, dance, cultural performance forms, physical theatre, spoken word, and more.
Please note: Technical equipment such as Lighting, sound and projection is not within the scope of this program. Utilising the Brown’s Mart equipment may be available at an additional cost depending on availability.
