5 – 13 April 2018
THE CRUCIBLE
Written by Arthur Miller
Directed by Merrilee Mills
Presented by Brown’s Mart Productions
Accusations of witchcraft turn neighbor against neighbor in 17th century Salem, Massachusetts.
The God-fearing citizens of Salem believe in the power of dark magic and its ability to wreak havoc and destruction if it is not contained.
No one is beyond suspicion and as investigations into witchcraft reach their highest pitch, more and more innocent women are arrested and tried.
The Crucible was originally written as an allegory for 1950s McCarthyism, which accused thousands of Americans of being communists or communist sympathizers.
Arthur Miller’s Tony Award-winning masterpiece continues to serve as a cautionary tale against irrational and prejudicial thinking in our contemporary society.
