Presented by Tigrillo Australia & Hispanic Comedy Festival

After taking the U.S. by storm, Gabriel Murillo lands in Australia with Gordo y Feo — a spicy, brutal and gloriously incorrect stand-up comedy show. Gabriel is one of Colombia’s most powerful comedic voices right now: millions of views, sold-out theatres, and a loyal fanbase that loves his raw, no-filter humor. His three stand-up specials — Mi Primer Aborto, En Qué Piensas and En La Olla — have cemented him as an uncomfortable, honest and brutally funny voice, widely celebrated by both audiences and major media in Colombia.

A new work from Sean Guy

When the patriarch of a world-famous pub franchise dies suddenly, his ambitious children fight for power over a birthright they haven’t really earned at all. Should one of them inherit the business just because their blood is special? Will the manager still make all the actual decisions? And if the family’s role in the franchise is mostly just symbolic (though very good for tourism), does it even matter? “Buckingham’s Chalice” is a two-act comedy about family, inheritance, and the role of the monarchy in Australia in the 21st century. It’s a great night at the theatre for anyone who’s ever won (or lost) a pub quiz, had an argument with a stubborn sibling, or thought “what the hell are they doing” when some strange Royal Family ceremony makes international news.

Presented as a part of the NT Writer's Festival

Who is silenced, and who can speak? What are the mechanisms that decide which stories are told? In the face of the cancellations of events and awards, the arts landscape has been deeply altered. So how do writers respond when their work is challenged or suppressed, and what is the role of arts organisations to defend creative freedom?

Jeanine Leane, Micaela Sahhar and Joelistics reflect on the real impacts of censorship and self-censorship, and explore the literary courage it takes to resist the forces that police words.
